Richard Petree is Chief Appraiser of Taylor County. He was elected County Tax Assessor/Collector for Taylor County in 1976, and during his second term was named as the first Chief Appraiser, where, other than a nine-month period as Chief Appraiser for Travis County in 1988, he has remained. Richard earned a BBA in Economics and General Business from McMurry University, where he also studied Secondary Education. He received the Earl Luna Award from the Texas Association of Appraisal Districts in 1988 recognizing him as the outstanding Chief Appraiser that year. A licensed United Methodist minister, he has pastored several churches in West Texas. Richard was elected to the TPS Board of Trustees in 2001, and serves as Secretary. He and his wife, Cammie, have six children. He resides in Abilene.
